Utility Trailer Axles Fully Explained - How to Order the Correct Axle
Переглядів 68 тис.10 років тому
I attempt to fully explain how to order the correct axle for your utility trailer build. It can be very confusing to find the right axles to use and most websites don't really make it any easier. In fact, they are often so poorly done that they only add to the confusion. In this video I will hopefully sort some of the problems out. To get the free utility trailer plans I talk about in the video...

How to square up a large frame for welding
Переглядів 41 тис.11 років тому
I took this excerpt from a video I did about building a trailer. This clip talks about what I think is the best way to square a large frame or any other object. Something this large is hard to get square with just a framing square so I use simple math and a tape measure. My website is weldwithavengeance.com/
Overhead Stick Welding Screwing Around to Prove a Point
Переглядів 8 тис.11 років тому
I just try to demonstrate how it's really not that hard to run a good overhead stick welding bead. I end up screwing off during the welding process to show that welding overhead is mostly a head game that people play with themselves and it's not really that hard to do. During the weld, I lift up my welding hood, switch hands, run in place, walk around, and just plain screwing around all while n...
Stick Welding Tips and Techniques 7018 Overhead
Переглядів 21 тис.11 років тому
I just run a simple overhead fillet weld with 7018 1/8" and the amperage ste at about 120. I forgot to mention in the video but I'm just doing a small weave bead. I'm not going crazy with the weave but, it's slight and I'm not just dragging the welding rod. Stop by weldwithavengeance.com/ for more welding tips and techniques.
Stick Welding Tips and Techniques 7018 Vertical Up
Переглядів 1,6 млн11 років тому
In this video I talk about how I go about welding a vertical up with 7018's. I will show you what to look for while I'm welding and how it's important to hold the corners and sweep quickly across the middle the whole way up. This will avoid the much dreaded under-cut that many welders seem to get while welding vertical ups with a stick welder. I have the welder set at 120 amps and I use 1/8" 70...

Stick Welding Techniques and Tips 7018 Lap Joint
Переглядів 14 тис.11 років тому
In the video I show a really basic lap joint made from 1/4" steel and describe how I weld it. I also show the welding being done so hopefully you can get a feel for this type of common welding joint and lay down the correct bead. The heat is set in the 120 amp range and I use a 1/8" 7018 for this weld. weldwithavengeance.com/ is the place for much more general welding info. and welding tips and...
Stick Welding Techniques and Tips 7018 No Weave Fillet Weld
Переглядів 19 тис.11 років тому
I explain in this video, one of the easiest welds that can be done with a 7018 welding rod. It's a simple no weave fillet weld by just dragging the electrode across the joint. I used 1/18" 7018 with the amperage set at about 120 amps. Find plenty of welding techniques and tips over @ weldwithavengeance.com/

Those fenders should not suppose to be centered! They should be positioned a little bit towards the rear! Because this suspension will actually move spring back when loaded!

Hi, what's the reason for the different sizes of leaf spring hanger brackets, I'm re-doing my trailer, and the front brackets are 3 inch from top to 9/16 hole. yours are shorter. will that make a difference on the trailer?

I mount the fenders about an inch back from centre - because as the springs flatten with load the axle moves to the rear - just looks better and eliminates the possibility of the tyre rubbing on a tight fitting fender

11 years late but….The angle running front to back how much more would it cost to add another 1 1/2” to the leg running up n down? This would be so that your angles running across sat on the angle and then welded instead of welding it under the angle? A tiny bit more cost would be way more sturdy????

Great job. I built a 5x8 using 2x3 tube 40 years ago. After a few years I cut the front off and added 2’. Still using it today and do not want to sell it. Build something good and it lasts for years. Heck I am 75 years old now and I built it 50 years ago not 40.

This bloke can't weld for shit. Your weld width isn't consistent. Your speed isn't consistent. Your arc length is too long, ergo, too hot. Your angle is too harsh. Get off the internet moron. Queenslander/cert 3/4 engineering engineering

Big problem with your trailer, In the UK the Law states that gross weight of a trailer that has no brakes must not exceed 750KG, your trailer must weigh more than that without even having a load on it. so it will be illegal to pull it on the road even when the trailer is empty :(

the main rule of thumb on the rear set up, is the leaf spring hole should be 1 bolt hole behind the hanger hole to get a descent support and balance...not 10 degrees not 25 degrees...one hole size back..

I'm only 30 minutes into the video, but I have concerns about the axle to frame clearance. I know when I was going to install an axle like you're using, the front brackets were at least twice as tall. How's it holding up and is there anything you would have done differently?
